Maya Garza

Maya Garza earned her Master’s in Dietetics and Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Her passion for nutrition deepened during an internship in Barbados, where she expanded her cultural competence and developed an interest in renal nutrition while working with dialysis patients. With experience practicing dietetics in both Mexico and the United States, Maya is dedicated to improving access to culturally responsive nutrition care in the Rio Grande Valley. Her goal is to ensure that individuals from Mexican and other Latin communities receive nutrition guidance that reflects their culture and traditions. Outside of her professional life, Maya enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, baking, and discovering the best tacos with her family.
